When designing we all had different styles, but that helped feed more ideas in the group instead of confusing the flow of the project. Fist sketches communicated large or even 3D constructed shoulders and or sleeves that would add to our 3D print. This was an idea the whole group were keen on. However after the print proved time consuming this concept was not developed enough to follow through on to the final designs and garment. Even though i believe the print is strong enough on its own it would have been interesting to sample and develop this idea further if we had more time.
Drape pages from portfolio looking at binding the front hem with a plane darker fabric. We trailed binding on the final garment but none of the team were happy with the result as it wasn't as clean and neat as we hoped. Unfortunately we just hemmed the edges. The drape worked really we as we able to visualise the final garment and easily change shapes that did not work, or develop shapes that worked well. We used our, already hand screened printed fabric alongside other fabrics to really be able to see what our final garment may look like.
Sketches scanned in to photoshop and edited into and anaglyphic picture. This was a really quick and it was and easy way to tie our theme into our illustrations. I would like to develop this method further, possible by doing a photo shoot with our garment using this method.
I feel the print on our garment works really well and as a group we engineered it to fit our pattern pieces. However I'm very pleased we chose a darker un printed fabric for the top of the jacket and sleeves as the fabrics work harmoniously together. As a team we had very strong characters as we all had a vision about what we wanted to achieve, fortunately this worked in our favour as that meant we were abundant with ideas, allowing us to pick and chose the best or combine some that worked alongside each other. Especially when it came to the print room the 4 of us really pulled together to complete the work we had set out to do in the time we had. With more time I would have loved to experiment with this print digitally, so that we could have the sample, with the lions heads closer together on the garment. Furthermore to develop the 3D construction aspect of our research.
